The clients absolutely loved to socialise and during the pandemic wanted a larger space for family get togethers. The garden was a fantastic size and caught the sun all day but the tired design of narrow borders pushed up against the boundaries and small paving areas were in need of an update.
The design makes the most of the long garden separating the space into garden rooms with a unified design carried through in the repetition of materials and planting tones.
The existing patio was small and claustrophobic, totally out of place in this generously sized Sutton garden.
The planting softens the geometric design, and brings nature into the garden.
Often expanding the floor space of your house by building extensions or conservatories eats in to the usable outdoor space and changes where the best of the sun lands. It's regularly complicated by the change of ground heights and where the retaining walls are. In this project we extended the seating area with a gorgeous Millboard deck. Rather than undertake the expensive ground works involved with extending the excavated patio we built along the rear boundary providing more light, more sunshine and views across the garden.
